So i've been whining for a while about needing a headboard. So, I got some vinyl, leather looking stuff, a piece of mdf board, and some quilting batting and, voila! in about an hour i created my own padded headboard.

Next I want a new comforter, a plain old black comforter, not sure what kind of material but something pretty of course.Then I'll create a new window treatment, perhaps some colorful throw pillows, and my favorite place in my apt (next to my computer seat) will be done!

I've seen this cute little park on my way around my new part of town here in Irving, so today, I took a little break from my afternoon of nothing to go wander around a bit in the heat and sun.

On Saturday June 5th, I had the honor of serving as the Maid of Honor in the wedding of my best friend, sistah, confidante, the former Miss Tonia Nyree Harris to Mr. James Louis Gooden, III.

Not only was it her wedding day, but it was also her 30th birthday! We always said we wanted to have big shindigs when we hit the big 3-0, and I guess a wedding is a surefire way to kill two birds with one stone , ay?

The bride was indeed stunning as you will soon see, and the groom quite handsome. It was a beautiful day, with good folks, good fun, lots of dancing, laughter, and most of all, lots of love.

Tonia has been my best friend now, for over 1/3rd of my life. I'm so happy that she has found someone to love her , take care of her, and treat her the way she deserves. I wish them many years of happiness, joy, laughter and love, and babies to send to Auntie Kee Kee's house!

The day started off with a nice WARM and sticky walk across the parking lot at Fair Park here in Dallas. Luckily, all of the festivities were held indoors, ahhhh good ole AC! After a few hugs, and kisses, heyas, how ya doings and intros of the two sides of the families, we got down to the rehearsing.

After the rehearsals at Hall of State, we all set out on our misadventures on the way to El Fenix, the Mes'kin food restaurant where we had dinner. If anybody actually made it directly from the Hall to El Fenix, without getting lost, I salute you! Cuz I was lost as hell! SO lost, I ended up just saying to hell with it, drove almost all the way back to Hall of State, and started over.

Driving in Dallas sucks.

Anyway, after dinner, a few naps and much needed resting time for us all, we headed over to Dave & Busters to hang out. D&B as always provided much comedy. Blue haired chicks, loudly dressed Dallas native women (you have to come here to understand). But most amazing of all, the three guys that were on the Dance Dance Revolution thing the ENTIRE time we were there. Which had to be about 4 hours. MY GOODNESS!. Drinks that tasted like wedding cake, a man asking me for my phone number, cuz I'm big and sexy...

FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN!!! WE HAVE GOT TO GET TOGETHER AND DO THIS AGAIN!!!

So, I finally got an apartment of my very own, once again.
Its pretty cool, nice and airy...seems quiet so far...time will tell

I have come to the conclusion, that in all of the places I have lived, Northern Cali, Southern Cali, Colorado, Texas...first Houston, now the Dallas area...that North Texas people are THE rudest, most incompetent drivers there are. This is what my drive home looks like every day. considerably light for it being FRIDAY.
